OWLIM-Enterprise is a high-performance, clustered semantic repository created by Ontotext. OWLIM's web site, [http://www.ontotext.com/owlim|http://www.ontotext.com/owlim]{color:#0000ff},{color} provides extensive information and references regarding support contacts and mailing lists, documentation and latest performance benchmarks.

h1. Features

The key features of OWLIM-Enterprise can be summarised as follows:
* *Scale-out concurrent query processing* allows query throughput to be scaled proportionally with the number of cluster nodes
* *Resilience in the event of hardware/software failure* means that the cluster remains full functional in the event of a failure of any node
* *Automated fail-over and load-balancing* keeps the cluster fully utilised at all times
* *Dynamic configuration and automatic synchronisation* allows nodes to be added or removed at any time
* *Notification mechanism* allows clients to react to statements in the update stream for the entire cluster

h1. Interfaces, Standards, Requirements

+OWLIM-Enterprise:+ is controlled using the Java JMX Management Extensions interfaces
+Platform:+ Java JRE version 1.5 onwards (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions). If custom rule-sets are used then a Java JDK version 1.6 inwards is required
+Application Server:+ Any JEE Compliant servlet container, e.g. Tomcat

h1. Licensing

OWLIM-Enterprise is available under an RDBMS-like commercial license on a per-server-CPU basis; it is neither free nor open-source. To purchase a license or obtain a free copy for research or evaluation, please, contact [OWLIM-info@ontotext.com|mailto:OWLIM-info@ontotext.com].

h1. Installation and Usage

OWLIM-Enterprise is distributed as a ZIP archive that contains OWLIM's compiled jar's, all required libraries, configuration files, documentation, sample code and data. Use of the rule-compiler (i.e. custom rule-sets) requires the Java Development Kit (JDK) version 1.6 or later, otherwise a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 or later is required.
The [installation section|OWLIM-Enterprise Installation] of the user guide provides all the information necessary to set up an OWLIM-Enterprise cluster.

h1. Credits

OWLIM-Enterprise uses Sesame as a library, taking advantage of its APIs for storage and querying, as well as the support for a wide variety of query languages (e.g. SPARQL and SeRQL) and RDF syntaxes (e.g. RDF/XML, N3, Turtle). The development of OWLIM-Enterprise is partly supported by [SEKT|http://www.sekt-project.com/], [TAO|http://www.tao-project.eu], [TripCom|http://www.tripcom.org/], [LarKC|http://www.larkc.eu/], and other [FP6|http://cordis.europa.eu/fp6/] and [FP7|http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/] European research [projects|http://www.ontotext.com/research/].
