The KIM server is a self-contained installation. It can be backed up and restored in a very simple way.

h2. Backup steps

# Stop the KIM server if started.
# Create an archive of the complete installation folder.

h2. Restore steps

There are two different scenarios for restoring the KIM server.

h3. Restore the existing KIM server

# Remove the KIM installation that needs to be replaced (due to corruption, etc.).
# Unpack the backup archive.

h3. Migrate the KIM server to a new machine

# If the server is restored in a different environment, repeat [the installation instructions|Installation guide].
# Unpack the backup archive.
# Redeploy the Web Applications to the servlet container.
