The minimum system requirements to run the basic KIM installation are:
- Intel® Pentium® IV 1GHz or compatible processor
- 2 GB total system RAM
- 500 MB hard disk space
- Linux, Microsoft® Windows (2000 SP2 / XP / 2003 / Vista / 7), Mac OS X 10.5
+ (Leopard, Snow Leopard)
- Sun / Oracle JDK SE 6 or higher ( download ) on Linux and Windows and the bundled JDK by Apple on Mac OS X machines.
- servlet container or J2EE application server for the Web User Interface. The following have been tested and work:
|Running KIM with a JRE is not supported. J2EE is not required. Since all essential KIM components are 100% pure Java, it should run in all environments with mature Java support.|
|Currently, in order to be more user-friendly, KIM server comes with an embedded Mortbay Jetty servlet container. It can be easily turned off and another servlet container used instead.|
The default KIM platform can be used by up to 5 users simultaneously, who browse in Facets or do Boolean search. When doing Timeline analysis the retrieving process slow down noticeable.
